Subject: Re: Winsock 1.1 Help
In a previous article, sawyer@macs.stetson.edu (Bill Sawyer) says:

I believe that there is some confusion here and this is my understanding of
how things are set up. The problem is that the program Trumpet Winsock 1.0
is being confused with the Windows Sockets 1.1 API (the standard)
Windows Socket 1.1 API is a standard for networking related software. The
idea is that software written for the Windows Socket 1.1 API can be run on
ANY Windows Socket 1.1 complient TCP. This includes Trumpet Winsock,
Chamelion, etc...
It just so happened that Trumpet Winsock (which is Windows Sockets 1.1
complient) has version numbers like 1.0 Alpha (some Betas are out now
also).
Hope this helps,
Chris Dreher

Depending on your host, the address might be picked up by the PPP
protocol. If not, grab it via a script and let Chameleon find it
that way. Check to make sure the MTU is set for 1500 and is the
same on both ends. Again, PPP should negotiate both the MTU as well
as the address, but this is not always the case in reality.
